Harold Hawley

Harold P. Hawley, born in 1918, died at Community General Hospital after a brief illness on March 13th. He founded the Hawley Photography Studio in Dewitt in 1950. It is still operated today by his son Robert, Cheri Hawley, and daughter Elizabeth DiMeis. The business is currently located in Westvale. Harold served in the Signal Corps during WW II. He was an avid hunter and fly fisherman. After retiring from the studio, he purchased a cruising sailboat and with his wife, Susan, sailed it in both the Bahamas and the British Virgin Islands for 10 years. After the sailing years, they bought a home in Sebastian, FL, where he and Susan resided for 17 years. They moved to Fayetteville, NY in 2005 to be nearer to their children. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Susan, four sons: Harold Jr., David, Robert (Marlene), and Thomas (Cynthia), 6 grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter. There will be no calling hours or service. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetary at a later date.

Your grandfather was a wonderful man. I have very fond memories of him ,from when I was younger, growing up at the Wilmurt Club. Our family was very sad to hear the news. Our deepest sympathy to you and your family.
